Pranayama, an ancient breath control practice, is a vital component of yoga—an integral limb that cultivates spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well-being. Derived from Sanskrit, "prana" loosely translates as life force energy, while "yama" represents expansive control and discipline coupled with awareness.
This class will dive into a variety of pranayama practices that will bring balance to the nervous system, enhance wellbeing, improve mood and focus, boost immunity, reduce stress, and enhance lung capacity. Learning to control the breath assists you to develop a conscious connection between body and mind.
The class will end with a guided meditation practice. This will be an embodied practice using the senses and the breath to focus the mind. Each breath will move you further into a relaxed state. We will use single pointed focus to train the mind to slow down. This practice assists with stress management, emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, and racing thoughts. It promotes well being and inner self awareness.
